Why can't I see the total number of new notifications I have received on the Notifications icon?

Unlike the Notifications button on Fuse desktop, the Notifications icon on the Fuse mobile app, does not display the total number of new notifications a user has received. To view all notifications including newly received ones, click the Notifications icon.
