What is the difference between a measure and an attribute in the Analyzer tool?

  • Measure: A measure is quantitative and measurable. For example, the Total Engagement measure shows the total number of likes, comments, follows, shares, and questions asked in a community by a user.
  • Attribute: An attribute is qualitative and includes text. Attributes are used to segment or categorise data. For example: An attribute called “department” might display all department names in a company.

You can also turn an attribute into a measure by counting the number of values within the measure. For example, if you have an attribute called “department” you might count the number of departments.
